Residents in Burnside Heights now have easier access to public transport following the opening of the Westwood Drive Bridge and adjustment of Route 426 along Westwood Drive.
Member for Kororoit Marlene Kairouz said the route realignment brings services nearer to residents and increases connections to key local destinations, including Caroline Springs Square and trains on the Sunbury line.
New bus stops have been installed on Westwood Drive to provide safe and accessible boarding points for passengers.
Route 426 will continue to connect with trains at Albion and Sunshine stations giving onward public transport options on the metropolitan and regional networks.
The service runs seven days a week from 5am to after midnight Monday to Saturday and from 7am to midnight on Sundays. It offers passengers over 400 bus trips a week.
The new bus stops opened on Sunday, 19 May to coincide with the realignment of the route.
This realignment adds to the Caroline Springs Bus Network upgrade, delivered in three stages over 2016 and 2017. The upgrades provided extended coverage into new residential areas, links to the new Caroline Springs train station, improved frequency on weekdays and weekends, improved access to key destinations including Caroline Springs Town Centre and Sunshine and more regular bus services between Burnside and Sunshine Station.
New timetables and maps outlining the service changes are available at ptv.vic.gov.au.
