The inaugural principal has been appointed to lead Burnside Primary School in Melbourne’s booming western suburbs.
Member for Kororoit Marlene Kairouz today announced David Lombardi as the new principal of the new $19.4 million school.
Mr Lombardi has vital experience as a school leader, joining the new school from Footscray North Primary School where he was principal for 3 years and assistant principal for 6 years before that.
The new school is set to open at the start of 2019, catering for 475 Prep to Year 6 students and boasting state of the art physical education and performing arts facilities.
A ‘Meet the Principal’ event will be held in Term 3 and the time and location will shortly be advertised to local families.
Over the next six months, Mr Lombardi will work with the local community, students and parents to build a school for the area that embodies excellence and opportunity for learners.
To establish the school with strong foundations, Mr Lombardi will appoint talented and committed staff and build relationships with families and the community.
He will also work closely with the architects and builders to provide the right environment for students to thrive in.
The project is part of a $3.8 billion investment by the Andrews Labor Government to improve classrooms, upgrade facilities and build new schools.
This school building boom has delivered more than 1,300 school upgrades and 70 new school projects across the state, supporting almost 5000 construction jobs for Victorians.
