Major Service Boost For Deer Park And Caroline Springs

The Andrews Labor Government is delivering a huge boost for off-peak and weekend services for Deer Park and Caroline Springs passengers, beginning on 27 August.

Member for Kororoit Marlene Kairouz today announced the new V/Line timetable, with new services giving passengers travelling to and from Melbourne a 20 minute frequency between peak times, while maintaining the current stopping pattern for peak services.

Deer Park will receive 219 extra off-peak and morning services, while Caroline Springs will receive 88 off-peak and morning services.
All trains on the Ballarat line between the morning and afternoon peak on weekdays will now stop at Caroline Springs, doubling the number of trains during the day.

In a boost for city visitors, the late-night service on Fridays will also be extended to run each weeknight departing Southern Cross Station at 11:55pm for Ballarat, stopping at Deer Park and Caroline Springs.

A new 9.17pm weekday off-peak service will also be added in the evening from Southern Cross to Ballarat, stopping at Deer Park and Caroline Springs.

Weekend services will also be increased, with the frequency of daytime trains on Saturdays and Sundays to be around 40 minutes for Deer Park passengers and around 60 minutes for Caroline Springs.

As more passengers use V/Line, the Labor Government has invested $311.1 million for 39 new VLocity carriages on top of the existing order of 48 new carriages, in order to add capacity to the busiest services.

Deer Park and Caroline Springs passengers will also benefit from the Regional Rail Revival, with $555.6 million committed for the Ballarat line. This includes $518 million for Ballarat Line Upgrade, which will duplicate the line from Deer Park West to Melton and is already underway.

The times of coaches and buses that connect with trains will also be adjusted to reflect the new timetable.

Timetables are now available from www.vline.com.au/27august.

Passengers will be able to pick up printed timetables from stations and plan their trip using the Plan a Journey tool on the V-Line website from Thursday 27 July.
